Wife Of Lagos State Governor, Omobolanle Ambode, Toyin Kolade and Nollywood Stars Shows Love as Wife of Ondo State Governor, Betty Ayanwu Akeredolu Extends Fight Against Cancer to Lagos

It was a moment of sober reflection on the when the amiable and gold hearted wife of the cerebral governor of , Ondo State Mrs. Betty Akeredolu recently brought her campaign against Breast Cancer to Lagos.

The event which was a fund raising event as well as the launching of the Lagos State Chapter of the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria held amidst funfair, glamour and a carnival like environment as the cream of Lagos high society, government top functionaries led by no lesser personality than the wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Omobolanle Ambode, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and notable Logos Socialite and philanthropist, Princess Toyin Kolade, the CEO Fisolak resources along with notable Nollywood personalities stormed the Lagos Sharaton and Towers.

Mrs. Akeredolu, a survivor of breast cancer her self had initiated and single handedly formed the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria even before her husband became the governor of Ondo State less than two years ago. According to this woman of virtue, her experience as a victim of breast cancer woke her up to the reality of the trauma, stigmatization and agony breast cancer victims and their families go through. The fact that early detection and consequent treatment can stem the tide of this potentially killer disease spurred her to initiate this humanitarian association firstly as an awareness and enlightenment organisatition.

However, despite the meager resources at her disposal, this organization has been able to offer succor to many who are financially challenge as well as offering free consultancy to cancer patients through collaboration with the University Teaching Hospital Ibadan, Oyo State, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Ile Ife, Osun State and the Federal Health Center, Owerri, Imo State.

Over the years Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria has organized series of campaign events like Trek For Life, Monthly aerobic Morning Exercise as well as providing a home away from home accommodation for patients and their families undergoing treatment of breast cancer at the UCTH Ibadan.

The guest Lecturer of the Day Mrs. Olufunmi Olateju spoke on the importance of careful and well regimented dieting as a preventive measure against breast cancer.

The well attended event was chaired by the Chairperson of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Mrs. Vivian Okorie, and the Royal Father of the Day His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye the Ooni of Ife represented by Princess Toyin Kolade giving abundantly to this noble and humanitarian cause.
