Rev Father Attack: St. Thomas Catholic Church Hails CP Edgal

St. Thomas Catholic Church, Onilekere, Ikeja in a Press Statement has applauded the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal, for his swift response as well as the tremendous support he has shown towards the quick recovery of Rev. Father Daniel Nwankwo who was recently attacked by gunmen beside the church premises.

According to the statement released by the church, the Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jeffery Nwoke said that: “At about 9:15am, after presiding over the morning mass and hearing confession, Rev Fr. Daniel O. Nwankwo our Parish Priest was accosted within the church compound by three unknown hoodlums who shot him at a very close range.  Fr. Daniel was rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment.”

“The Lagos State Police Commissioner CP. Imohimi Edgal responded swiftly with his men by visiting the crime scene within twenty minutes of the incident and also visited the victim at the hospital where doctors are doing their best to stabilize the priest.”

“We appreciate the concern of our Parishioners and well meaning members of the public who have shown us tremendous support at this period and urge you to keep the prayers coming even as we commit the quick recovery of our dear Rev. Fr. Daniel to God through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary whose Feast of Nativity we celebrate today.”
