The Association of Professional Party Organisers (APPOEMN) is set to host the Events Industry's first ever Conference from 14th to 17th September,  2017 in Lagos.
The conference built on the theme "Proudly Nigerian...Setting Standards will bring together key professionals across the country  and a spectrum of events service providers to share experiences, perspectives, insights and latest developments in the industry.
Keynote speakers scheduled for the conference include Senator Abike Dabiri, Mrs Yewande Zaccheus and Mr Folarin Coker.

Specifically, the event will roll off with an Events Master Class on September 14 at the Naval Yard Ahmadu Bello Way Victoria Island, Lagos at 9am, with registration begining an hour earlier. The day will culminate in  a Highlife at the waterfront of the same venue.

A seminar and Exhibition which will be open to the public will take place the next day September 15th in Havilah Events Center at 34 Chief Yesufu Abiodun Oniru Road  by City of David at 9am prompt.
About 300 event professionals, goverment agencies and clients are expected to attend the seminar with exhibitions featuring.
The event conference will climax with a Dinner and Awards Night at D'Venue by Cedarwood, Water Corporation Road, Off Ligali Ayorinde, Oniru, Victoria Island Lagos, in what is expected to be a luxurious night of glitx and glam where 41 awards will be presented to deserving vendors.

Speaking with journalists at a press conference organised by the body on Monday in Lagos, President of the association, Gbemisola Ope said APPOEMN was an association of a mix of seasoned events professionals that have been at the forefront of the industry for the past 15 years.
'Our mission is to educate, advance, network and promote the events industry and its network of professionals along with related industries".
According to her, the association seeks to become a chaterred council withe sole responsibiloty to regulate the practice of events management, associated industries and professionals in the country.
The association which has an internship and mentoring program as a model entrance policy into the industry in place,  is also working on certification, such that to be able to handle certain jobs for a certain level of delivery, certification will be demanded, just as it is with several other professions.
On some of the challenges of the body, the president averred;
"Getting people to know what Appoemn stands for; not just what Appoemn can offer but also what people can bring in. Getting devoted people".
"Another one is having the right agencies noticing us and assisting us with what we need".
"Agreeing on goals was again a problem with members, given the diverse nature and thinking of people, but down the line, as we have come to understand ourselves better, agreeing on goals, as in the instant case which is setting standards in the industry, we have surmounted that challenge".
"Some people also come in because they want to be popular which has no place with what we are doing, although that might happen by chance, but basically we are here to clean the industry and set the right standards," Gbemisola concluded.
