Benjamin Ubi Iwara popularly known as B-White. A musical artiste, born 6th June, 1993. he is from a family of six- three boys and two girls along with his mother. According to him, he lost his dad many years ago. He is from Yakuur local government in Cross-River State. He was born in Udukpani town in Cross-River but was raised in Owerri.
He attended St. Mary’s Nur/Pry in Olu local government in Owerri. Upon his father’s death, he went back to Cross-River where he attended Cambridge secondary school in Ugep town. After that, he obtained a diploma in Computer Accessories from Divine Favour Computer Training School, Ugep.
“B-White came about because I wanted to be conscious of myself. The “B” is gotten from my name, Benjamin. White was added because when you wear white or see white, you’re conscious of yourself not to stain it so I don’t want to stain or ruin myself by forgetting my background or where I am from. Also I love the color, White. I have songs I’ve written but I’ve only recorded and produced one due to financial constraints. When my dad died in 2009, I experienced a lot of financial issues which led me to quit music and focus on other things. But right now, I’m returning to my first love. I released My Story last month and I’m going to release Baba Biko next week, hopefully” he said.
He basically sings Afro pop for now but later he hopes to delve into Highlife pop.
he started his music career in church, singing gospel music at the age of 14. Initially, he would have loved to be a gospel singer but delved into secular music for the love of self expression. “I wanted to say what I mean and mean what I say so I chose the secular In writing my songs, I draw inspiration from other artistes I admire like Flavour and Tuface because they don’t sing for singing sake. Instead, they pass messages across to their audience. I also observe life and its happenings when I want to write my songs”.
Expressing his love for music….. “I love music. Music is life. I could be hungry and I’d listen to music and be fine. Through music, you can explain and experience everything the singer is trying to pass across. It gave me a chance at expressing myself and I really wanted to do that i really want to tell real stories about real situations. I don’t just want to make music; I also want to make sense. I’m not going to be all about the “banging” types of music as I want to pass reasonable messages across through my music”.
in Nigeria here, I look up to Tuface while internationally, I admire Akon. I love these two people because of their style and delivery of their music. They both make great music.
He relaxes by watching football games and playing his guitar. I’m a guitarist. I’m focusing on my music so I do not have a girlfriend for now.
