Come 2018 just as it was in 2014, the Osun State gubernatorial elections is set yet again to be a litmus test for all the political parties that are set to lock horns for the soul of Nigeria, namely the presidency. As it stands, two major parties, the ruling All progressive Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party are the major contenders. The Osun State gubernatorial elections come 2018 are critical for two major reasons. firstly, it will be a yardstick with which both parties, APC and PDP will use as a yardstick to measure expectations nationwide foe the 2019 General Elections. Secondly, Osun State will be a battle ground because the ruling APC having suffered an humiliating setback in the last past by actions to fill the seat left vacant by Senator Isiaka Adeleke will do all they can to roll back the tide.

These are the reasons why the choice of the flag bearer on the side of the PDP will be critical to the party both at the state and national level if they hope to stand a chance of wresting power from APC in the state. However, the long list of aspirants queuing up to contest the PDP primaries for the elections,and  the perimeter for picking a be table candidate must be giving stake holders a headache at the moment  If the party is to stand a chance given the propaganda lauded but questionable achievements of the incumbent Governor Aregbesola administration. What the party need is a fresh face, a tested and proven personality who have not only excelled in the private and public sectors but also with international exposure and public appeal to wrest power from the present ruling APC. A critical but absolutely objective and unbiased look at the aspirants will point to the obvious, the man PDP needs to Chase out the APC in Osun is Hon. Ayoade Adewopo.

 This widely traveled, exposed and internationally connected professional of global acclaim is the man Osun need to take her to the next level. Hon Ayoade is a man whose integrity is unquestionable, a virtue that will no doubt be deceive in the elections. Aside this, wtth his international experience and contacts, this is the man who will not use sourcing for foreign investors as an excuse to go global trotting but genially use what he has already to attracted the needed investments to grow the state economy.

Before anyone think that what this piece is all about is just grandstanding, let us take a look at the intimidating resume of this man of great accomplishments.  Very cerebral and intellectual, Ayoade Adewopo holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University, Indiana, a postgraduate diploma in international tax law from Robert Kennedy College, Zurich-Switzerland and HND in Business Administration & Management from the polytechnic Ibadan.

He is licensed to practice law in the USA and also as a Solicitor in England and Wales, with a right to practice in the European Union nations and several other nations where English solicitors have a right to practice. Previously, Dr. Adewopo worked with The Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission, as an Associate with the law firm of Ice Miller LLP, as the Senior Global Operations Counsel for The Scott’s Miracle-Gro Company (NYSE: SMG) and as the Assistant General Counsel, Americas for Ingersoll Rand (NYSE: IR). Between the years 2004 to 2006, Dr. Adewopo served as Secretary, Vice President and President of the Marion County Bar Association (Indianapolis, Indiana). During the same period, he was also appointed as a Member of the Marion County Public Defender Board of Directors.  As a Global Trade counsel, he has served as special advisor and counsel to foreign government entities and several multi-national corporations on diverse transactions, including commodity hedging, mergers, acquisitions, global or cross-border joint ventures, Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPOs), global security issues, global trade ethics and compliance policies. This widely traveled man has had the privilege to live, work and study in four different continents (Africa, Asia, Europe and North America). A philanthropist of note, Dr. Adewopo has been silently impacting the lives of Osun indigence. He is affiliated with a foundation that is currently catering for the needs of indigent Osun State students. Dr. Adewopo is a renowned expert in corporate governance and anti-money laundering matters and he serves as counsel to corporate and government entities on such matters.
